24/7 emergency tyre repair & roadside call-out
A flat tyre never happens at a convenient time. We answer the phone at three in the morning on Boxing Day, and the van comes to wherever you are, with the tyre, the machine and the balancer on board. Driveway, roadside, car park or verge.

This guy literally saved my life. My wheel went close to Duxford and they came within 30 minutes on a Sunday around 6pm and fixed it on the spot for a very good price. Like, who does that? Thanks to them I didn’t have to pay a fortune for a recovery.
What an amazing service — really fast, efficient and friendly. Puncture sorted in under an hour after my first message. Highly recommended local business.
Called up and he was here within the hour. Two tyres done on the drive. Top bloke and amazing service.
Great service — got a puncture and he was able to fit a premium tyre for my car the same day.
No trouble too small. Came out as soon as possible and fitted in the dark. Great service.
His prices were fair, and the quality of service was excellent.
Saved the day, in all honesty, and really good professional service.
He’s an absolute credit to himself and his family.
What to do first, before you ring anyone
Getting this bit right is worth more than any price we could quote you. If the tyre has gone at speed, don’t brake hard. Hold the wheel firmly, come off the accelerator and let the car slow itself before steering gently off the road.
Once you have stopped: hazards on, everyone out through the doors on the side away from traffic, and stand well back from the carriageway. On a motorway that means behind the safety barrier, up the bank, never in the vehicle and never on the hard shoulder itself. Then call the police or Highways England before you call us. A live hard shoulder is their scene first, and we work alongside them.
On an ordinary road, get as far onto the verge or into a lay-by as you can and put a warning triangle out if you carry one and the road is safe enough to walk it.
Do not drive on it, even a short distance
This is the single most expensive mistake we see. A tyre that could have been repaired for £35 becomes a new tyre the moment it’s driven on flat, because the sidewall folds under the rim and the internal structure shreds. A mile of limping to a garage will do it. So will a few hundred yards.
It also costs you more than the tyre. Running on a flat can buckle the alloy, damage the wheel bearing and take out the TPMS sensor inside the wheel. We photograph these regularly. The difference between a screw in the tread and a destroyed carcass is often nothing more than the driver deciding to press on.
What we bring, and what we can finish at the roadside
The van is a full workshop rather than a car with a jack in the boot. It carries a tyre changing machine, a wheel balancer, a compressor, a torque wrench, locking wheel nut extractors and TPMS programming kit, along with stock in the common sizes and same-day access to almost anything else.
That means the great majority of emergency call-outs finish where you’re standing: tyre off, new one on, balanced, valve replaced, torqued to the manufacturer’s figure and the old tyre taken away. Recovery is our last resort, never our opening offer.
What it costs at 3am
The same as it costs at 3pm, plus a small out-of-hours element between roughly 10pm and 6am, and you’re told that figure on the phone before the van moves. There’s no call-out fee anywhere inside our 50-mile area, and nothing is added on arrival.
That matters because the standard complaint about emergency tyre call-outs is the price going up once the fitter is standing next to a driver who has no other option. We quote before we set off and we hold it.

24/7 emergency tyre repair & roadside call-out: your questions
Are you really open 24 hours a day?
Yes. Saffron Walden Tyres 24/7 answers the phone and turns out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including Christmas Day and bank holidays. Night call-outs are a normal part of the week rather than an exception: shift workers, lorry drivers, people who find a flat at midnight before an early start. Call or message 07944 703971 at any hour.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. Saffron Walden Tyres 24/7 doesn’t add a call-out fee anywhere within 50 miles of Saffron Walden. The price quoted on the phone covers coming to you, the tyre or repair, balancing, a new valve and taking the old tyre away. Nothing gets added on arrival, which is the complaint people most often have about emergency tyre call-outs.
Do you charge more at night or at weekends?
The daytime price applies seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. A small out-of-hours element applies between roughly 10pm and 6am to cover working through the night, and it’s included in the figure you’re given on the phone before we set off. There are no surprise charges at the roadside at 3am.
Is it safe to drive on a flat tyre to a garage?
No. Driving even a short distance on a flat destroys the sidewall, and a tyre that could have been repaired for £35 becomes a new tyre instead. It can also damage the alloy and the wheel bearing. If you’re somewhere safe, stop, put the hazards on and call out a mobile fitter. If you’re on a motorway hard shoulder, get behind the barrier first and ring 999 or the breakdown number on your policy.
Can you come out to a motorway or a fast A-road?
Yes, on the M11 between junctions 7 and 14 and on the A1, A14, A12, A120, A505, A11 and A1307. Safety comes first: get the vehicle as far left as you can, everyone out and behind the barrier, hazards on. On a live motorway hard shoulder, call the police or Highways England first. They may need to attend, and Saffron Walden Tyres 24/7 works alongside them.
